From Day One (FDO) is a graduate-led mentorship and femtorship program rooted in comunidad, confianza, and collective success.

Housed within the Latinx Student Resource Center, FDO connects undergraduate students with graduate student mentors who provide academic guidance, professional development support, and identity affirming mentorship.

FDO was created to ensure that students, especially those from historically underrepresented communities, do not navigate higher education alone. Through 1:1 mentorship, weekly office hours, skill-building and informational workshops, the program creates intentional spaces where students can ask real questions, build confidence, and envision themselves in graduate school and beyond.

From day one on campus, mentees gain access to:

  • Personalized mentorship and accountability

  • Grad school exploration and application support

  • Career and Professional development guidance

  • Community-building spaces rooted in belonging

  • Leadership development opportunities

FDO is more than mentorship; it is an ecosystem designed to cultivate leadership, affirm identity, and empower students to thrive academically, professionally, and personally.
