About the OMAOCh Conference
Each year, OMAOCh brings together over 100 high school students, college students, and community members. The name OMAOCh comes from the Palauan word omaoch, meaning “to flow,” whether like a river carving its path or the blood that connects us to one another and to those who came before us. Created in 2020 by alumni Toluk Ito and Tupou Latukefu Drake, OMAOCh Conference builds upon the legacy of past youth conferences led by PI student leadership at UC Berkeley and other campuses. This conference provides a dedicated space for us to engage in meaningful discussions, activities, and workshops designed by our community, for our community. OMAOCh Conference is hosted by the Pacific Islander Initiative
Omaoch (pronounced oh-mah-oh!) means “to flow," specifically in reference to a river and/or blood in the Belauan language.
