Through close collaboration between Asian Pacific American Student Development (APASD)(link is external), the Asian American and Asian Diaspora (AADS) Studies Program(link is external)(link is external), and the Asian American Research Center (AARC(link is external)(link is external)), UC Berkeley secured it's first AANAPISI grant in September 2023.
The grant focuses on increasing student access and retention, particularly for Pacific Islander (PI) and Southeast Asian (SEA) students in addition to expanding academic and research opportunities in Critical Pacific Islander and Southeast Asian American Studies.
With this grant, APASD will be able to continue enhanceing programs serving Pacific Islander and Southeast Asian students in addition to supporting the development of new programs, such as Critical Pacific Islander and Critical Southeast Asian American Studies Research Fellowships as well as semesterly scholar and artist residency programs.
