Yes, at UC Berkeley we take action and investigate those who are alleged to violate federal and state laws or the Campus Code of Conduct. We also provide support to all members of the campus community who experience, or witness, a hate crime or hate-motivated act.
The University is required to collect information about hate crimes on campus under the Jeanne Cleary Act. The University is continually developing protocols around hate crimes response; see the Response at UC Berkeley page for more information.
Jeanne Clery Act
The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act is the landmark federal law, originally known as the Campus Security Act, that requires colleges and universities across the United States to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses.
